Member growth

Start your growth plan with a better question

A short working note on defining the behavior you want to change before choosing a campaign.

A growth plan becomes easier to evaluate when it starts with a specific member behavior. “Grow deposits” names a destination. It does not yet describe what a team should do differently.

Choose the behavior Write down who you want to serve, what action would be useful to them, and where that action currently stalls. A newly opened account and an actively used account are different outcomes. Keep that distinction visible.

Name the constraint A campaign cannot repair every part of an experience. Consider whether the constraint is awareness, eligibility, application effort, onboarding, or ongoing usefulness. Ask what evidence would distinguish these explanations.

Design a small test Choose one behavior and one practical change. Define the observation window before you begin. Pair the growth measure with a guardrail, such as service workload or complaints, so that a better headline number does not hide a worse member experience.

Bring the question to your team What do we want members to do, why would it help them, and what makes that action difficult today? Use that question to start the discussion before deciding on a channel or offer.
